Most of the Tauntonian website is based around a
private collection of old picture postcards and photographs of
Taunton collected over several years at postcard fairs, from
antique shops, and more recently purchased via the internet. An
online version of the collection first came about when I was
feeling a little homesick for the old hometown when living and
working, far away from Somerset, in Central Europe in 1999. Since
then I have expanded the online collection to the point where it
now includes well over one hundred scanned images of the town. In
doing so I hope that the old pictures and postcards collected and
displayed here will bring some enjoyment to fellow old Tauntonians,
current residents, and anyone with an interest in Taunton.
